Terms of service
The agreement between you and Altivar Systems Ltd for use of ScanZX. Please read it alongside the risk disclosure, which explains the limits of what ScanZX can tell you. Last updated 9 August 2026.
In plain English
- ScanZX is information, not advice — a report describes the risk signals observed at a point in time, and your decisions stay your own.
- Paid plans are auto-renewing monthly subscriptions. Where you bought one decides who bills you and where you cancel it.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep the plan until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Plan allowances are enforced by our servers. Reaching a limit pauses that feature until the period resets — it deletes nothing.
- Our liability for trading and investment decisions is limited — clause 11 sets out how.
This summary is for orientation and is not the binding text. The numbered clauses below govern.
Who you are contracting with
ScanZX is operated by Altivar Systems Ltd, registered at 1 Elmfield Park, Bromley, BR1 1LU, United Kingdom. In these terms “we”, “us” and “ScanZX” mean that company, and “you” means the person or organisation using the service.
Questions about these terms go to support@scanzx.com.
What ScanZX is, and what it is not
ScanZX analyses public blockchain and market data and reports the risk signals it was able to observe for a token, contract or address. A report is a description of evidence gathered at a point in time. It is not a verdict on a token, not an audit, and not a statement that anything is free from risk.
ScanZX is information, not advice. Nothing in the product or its reports is financial, investment, legal or tax advice, a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything, or an invitation to invest. We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, and we do not provide a regulated activity. Decisions you take after reading a report are yours alone.
The risk disclosure sets out the limits of the analysis in detail, including what it cannot detect. It forms part of these terms.
Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to hold an account.
- The details you register must be accurate, and you must keep them up to date.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, including keeping your password and any API keys confidential. Tell us promptly if you believe either has been exposed.
- Accounts are for you or your organisation. Do not share credentials; if you need additional people, use the seats included with your plan.
- We record when you accepted these terms, the privacy policy and the risk disclosure, and the language you accepted them in, so that both sides have the same record of what was agreed.
Acceptable use
Our acceptable use policy forms part of these terms. In summary, ScanZX is for informational risk analysis. It must not be used for market manipulation, pump-and-dump coordination, wash trading, sanctions or law-enforcement evasion, or to lend false credibility to claims about a token.
You also agree not to:
- circumvent plan limits, rate limits or usage meters, or automate access outside the documented API;
- present a ScanZX report as an endorsement, certification or clearance of a token, or edit a report and continue to attribute it to us;
- resell or redistribute bulk report data as a competing product;
- attempt to breach, probe or disrupt the service, or access data belonging to another workspace;
- upload anything unlawful, or use ScanZX in breach of sanctions or applicable law.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches this section. Where it is reasonable to do so we will warn you first, but we do not have to where the breach is serious, unlawful, or ongoing.
Plans, usage limits and fair use
ScanZX is offered on a free plan and on paid subscription plans. Each plan carries its own allowances — how many basic and deep scans you may run, how many tokens you may monitor, how often monitoring runs, how many reports you may export, and how many seats your workspace has. Basic scans and deep scans are metered separately.
The allowances that apply to you are shown in the product, on your subscription screen, before you subscribe and while you are subscribed. Reaching an allowance limits further use of that feature until the period resets or you change plan; it does not delete anything you have already produced.
Allowances are enforced by our servers and are what we are actually able to supply. We may adjust the allowances included in a plan; where a change reduces what you are getting, section 7 applies.
Subscriptions, renewal and cancellation
Paid plans are auto-renewing subscriptions billed monthly. The price, the plan and the billing period are shown to you at the point of purchase, in your own currency, and you confirm them before any charge is made. A subscription renews automatically for a further month at the end of each billing period unless it is cancelled beforehand.
How you manage a subscription depends on where you bought it, because that is who takes the payment and who is able to stop it:
- Bought inside the ScanZX iOS app — the subscription is billed by Apple through your Apple Account. Manage or cancel it in the iOS Settings app, under your name, in Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period. Only Apple can cancel it; we cannot do it for you, and deleting your ScanZX account does not stop it.
- Bought on the ScanZX website — the subscription is billed by our payment processor and is managed from the billing area of your account, which is also where you cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.
In both cases you keep the paid plan until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then move to the free plan. We do not bill a workspace twice: if you already hold an active subscription through one route, a purchase through the other is refused with an explanation rather than stacked on top.
Upgrades and downgrades between paid plans take effect as described at the time you make the change, and the amount charged is adjusted by whoever bills you.
Price changes
We may change subscription prices. A change never affects the period you have already paid for. We will give you notice before a changed price applies to a renewal, and you can cancel before it takes effect. Where the store that bills you requires your explicit consent to a price rise, the subscription will not renew at the new price without it.
Your right to cancel, and refunds
If you are a consumer in the UK or EU you normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase of digital services. By subscribing and gaining immediate access to the paid features you ask us to begin supplying the service during that period, and you acknowledge that once it has been fully supplied you lose the right to cancel. Where the service has only been partly supplied, you may still cancel within the 14 days and we will refund an amount reflecting what you have used.
Refunds for subscriptions bought inside the iOS app are handled by Apple under its own refund process, not by us. Refunds for subscriptions bought on the website are handled by us, and you can request one using the contact details in section 1. Outside your statutory rights we are not obliged to refund a period that has already run, but we will always look at the circumstances.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Availability, data sources and change
We work to keep ScanZX available and accurate, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Maintenance, incidents, and failures at the blockchain nodes, explorers and market-data providers we depend on can all reduce what a report is able to establish. When a data source is unavailable we say so in the report and lower the confidence attached to it rather than filling the gap with an assumption.
Third-party data is provided as we received it. We do not control it and cannot warrant that it is complete or correct.
The product changes. We may add, alter or withdraw features. Where a change materially reduces the value of a paid plan you are on, you may cancel under section 6 and we will refund the unused part of the period.
Your content and our content
You keep ownership of what you put into ScanZX — the addresses you scan, your watchlist labels, notes and support messages. You grant us the licence we need to store and process that material in order to run the service for you, and nothing more.
We keep ownership of ScanZX itself: the software, the scoring methodology, the interface and the ScanZX name and marks. Reports we generate for you are yours to use for your own purposes, including sharing a report link you created, provided you do not misrepresent what the report says or strip out its context and limitations.
If you send us feedback or suggestions we may use them without obligation to you.
Liability
Cryptoasset markets are high risk and you can lose all the money you put into them. ScanZX reports observed risk signals; it cannot establish that a token is sound, and it cannot foresee what a token’s operators will do next. We are not liable for trading, investment or disposal decisions you take, whether or not you consulted a report first.
We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of trading or investment opportunity, loss of cryptoassets, loss of data, or indirect or consequential loss; and
- our total liability arising out of or in connection with these terms in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in that period.
If you use ScanZX for business purposes, you accept that this allocation of risk is reflected in the price.
Suspension, termination and deletion
You may stop using ScanZX at any time. You can delete your account yourself from the privacy area of your account; deletion completes after a seven-day window during which you can cancel it, so an accidental or hostile request is reversible.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription billed by Apple — cancel that in iOS Settings first, or you will continue to be charged for something you can no longer use.
We may suspend or close an account for a breach of section 4, for non-payment, or where we are required to by law. On termination your access ends, and we retain and delete data as described in the privacy policy, including the records we are legally required to keep.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top always shows the current version, and we record the version you accepted. If we make a material change we will tell account holders by email rather than relying on you to notice the date. Continuing to use ScanZX after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms; if you do not, you can cancel and close your account.
Governing law
These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and may bring proceedings there.
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver of it.
